Heavy commercial vehicles, such as trains, large tractor cabs and even a few vessels, require high demands from their batteries for start-up.

These batteries must be very robust and reliable, providing a operating life cycle and low maintenance. In addition, storage devices must operate efficiently in harsh conditions, including:

  • - High-peak current delivery
  • - High cyclability
  • - Deep discharge during cycles
  • - A wide range of operating temperatures

Currently, modules are using ultracapacitor modules as energy storage devices for these functions, to provide the high current required for engine start, either by assisting the batteries or autonomously.
